Set up 2FA for AWS on your Mac

AWS supports authenticator apps for two-factor authentication. Here’s how to set it up with Quick Authenticator on your Mac.

  1. Sign in to AWS and open the security settings: AWS security settings

Path in the English interface: IAM › Security credentials › Multi-factor authentication (MFA) › Assign MFA device › Authenticator app

  2. Choose to set up an authenticator app. AWS shows a QR code.
  3. In Quick Authenticator, click + and hold the QR code up to your Mac’s camera, drop a screenshot of it onto the window, or paste the setup key.
  4. Enter the current code from Quick Authenticator to confirm.
  5. Save the backup codes AWS gives you in a safe place.
