Set up 2FA for Dropbox on your Mac

Dropbox supports authenticator apps for two-factor authentication. Here’s how to set it up with Quick Authenticator on your Mac.

  1. Sign in to Dropbox and open the security settings: Dropbox security settings

    Path in the English interface: Settings › Security › Two-step verification

  2. Choose to set up an authenticator app. Dropbox shows a QR code.
  3. In Quick Authenticator, click + and hold the QR code up to your Mac’s camera, drop a screenshot of it onto the window, or paste the setup key.
  4. Enter the current code from Quick Authenticator to confirm.
  5. Save the backup codes Dropbox gives you in a safe place.
