Set up 2FA for Microsoft on your Mac

Microsoft supports authenticator apps for two-factor authentication. Here’s how to set it up with Quick Authenticator on your Mac.

  1. Sign in to Microsoft and open the security settings: Microsoft security settings

Path in the English interface: Security › Advanced security options › Add a new way to sign in or verify › Use an app

  2. Choose to set up an authenticator app. Microsoft shows a QR code.
  3. In Quick Authenticator, click + and hold the QR code up to your Mac’s camera, drop a screenshot of it onto the window, or paste the setup key.
  4. Enter the current code from Quick Authenticator to confirm.
  5. Save the backup codes Microsoft gives you in a safe place.
