Set up 2FA for X (Twitter) on your Mac

X (Twitter) supports authenticator apps for two-factor authentication. Here’s how to set it up with Quick Authenticator on your Mac.

  1. Sign in to X (Twitter) and open the security settings: X (Twitter) security settings

    Path in the English interface: Settings › Security and account access › Security › Two-factor authentication › Authentication app

  2. Choose to set up an authenticator app. X (Twitter) shows a QR code.
  3. In Quick Authenticator, click + and hold the QR code up to your Mac’s camera, drop a screenshot of it onto the window, or paste the setup key.
  4. Enter the current code from Quick Authenticator to confirm.
  5. Save the backup codes X (Twitter) gives you in a safe place.
